Myofascial Release is a much lighter touch than traditional massage, however it has a much deeper effect on the body. The fascia is the "glue" that holds everything together. When there is restriction in that fascial tissue, it can put stress on the system which can lead to imbalance and ultimately pain. MFR decreases the restriction in the fascial tissue so that the body is more balanced which decreases stress on the structure and ultimately decreases pain.

Before we begin, we will discuss your concerns for the session and what brought you in. I will also do a visual evaluation and posture assessment. This assessment will help guide the hands on work that we do. Questions and feedback are encouraged during the session.
During an MFR session there is often stretching involved and movement. I do recommend wearing or bringing athletic shorts and a bra if applicable.
Most clients say that after MFR, it feels more like an "I just got a good workout sore" rather than the all over sometimes nauseating soreness that one can feel after a deep tissue massage. Some clients feel relief right away and for some it takes a few visits. Sometimes you will have soreness in new or different places than the issue that you may have come in for. This is normal and a part of the healing process. Your body is responding to what we are doing and that is a good thing.
